It’s that time. Lights are twinkling, sleigh bells are jingling and your to-do list is growing every day. It must be the holiday season!
Today I’m here to help YOU with gifts for the yarn aficionados in your life.
This guide is designed to help you put together a really fun and unique gift pack for the yarn crafter you know and love.

The Pom Pom Starter Pack
The Pom Pom Starter Pack includes at least two sets of Clover Pom Pom makers, a faux fur pom pom and a set of really good scissors. The scissors in the picture came packaged as a set, and they are nicer than average sewing scissors. You want something a little more heavy duty for cutting the yarn on the pom pom makers.
2. MultiColored Mayhem Gift Pack
Hello Gorgeous! One of my favorite designers from the Supermodel era, Isaac Mizrahi, is now designing yarn for Michael’s craft store. You know what? It’s pretty good stuff!
Here I’m showing you two skeins of his Skyscaper collection in Flatiron. This yarn has a masculine feel and would be perfect for the guy knitter in your life. No worries if your gift recipient would prefer something a bit more feminine. There are plenty of color choices in this collection.
If you look carefully, you’ll see I’m giving you a couple of options when it comes to the knitting needles. The plain knitting needles are bamboo and made by Clover. You can easily pick them up in Michael’s with the yarn.
The green knitting needles are called Caspian and are from Knit Picks. They are my personal favorite when I’m using straight needles.
I definitely recommend wooden needles for straight needles, because they “grip” the stitches making it less likely they will fall off the needles.
To make the gift pack a bit more special, I paired the yarn with the adorable scissors every yarn crafter considers a must have item, some edgy embellishments and cute little jingle bells and mini ornaments.
If you really want to make it special, order the hand painted kitty cat teacup from etsy. It ships from Italy, so you will want to get that order in right away. If you are not that adventurous, then consider a special mug or teacup your person will love.
3. The Refined, High Class Variety Pack
Here I paired 4 skeins of contrasting yarn and the appropriate needles. The green ones are the Caspian colorway and the rainbow shade are called Harmony. That’s a super bulky yarn in a 6 weight and the needles are size 15US. Both needles and yarn were ordered from Knit Picks.
While we’re on the subject of Knit Picks, let me just say they are wonderful! They are an online and catalog store that cater to yarn crafters. As you can see, they carry their own product line of yarns and needles.
[bctt tweet=”Always purchase at least 2 skeins of yarn for the ultimate thoughtful gift.”]
That way there’s enough fiber for at least an accessory, and we know the dye lots will match.
Plus it’s doubly special if you gift more than one!
To jazz up this gift pack I added the Knitter’s Pride Knit Blockers and the new Wool Wash from Twig and Horn. You’ll have to mail order these, so don’t wait until the last minute. The fragrance of that wool wash is incredible! Throw in the sweet mini ornaments for good measure!
Now we’re going to get way, way outside of the box for this next gift pack suggestion.

4. The Vintage Inspired Craft Pack
Right now, everything old is new again. Young people are crazy for anything that is either vintage or is styled to look that way. Older people like it, because it takes them back to their own childhood. So when the idea to create a vintage inspired gift set came to me, I really had fun with it.
I purchased these super cool retro color Christmas lights at Michael’s. They remind me of the style of lights we had on the house when I was a child.
The vintage camera is an Argus I got on ebay. It doesn’t work, but so what? My first camera was an Argus, so this is another item that takes me back to my childhood.
Then I included a vintage teacup. You can find oodles of these on etsy.
And for the yarn crafting specifics I selected a row counter and 3 skeins of an organic yarn by Cascade. You’ll want to pick up something like that in your person’s yarn shop so they can take it in to be wound into a cake.
Unless they already have a swift and ball winder setup. Most serious knitters do. If your person is new and doesn’t have that, then buy the product in the yarn shop.
[bctt tweet=”It’s in really bad taste to purchase your yarn online and then expect a yarn shop to wind it for you. “]
Just don’t go there. The swift and ball winder discussion is for another day.
Last, but certainly not least, here’s a gift selection for your crafter that really gets high marks for being creative and special.
‘Cause who doesn’t appreciate a unique gift?
5. Delectably Delicious and Colorful and Good Smelling Gift Set
I ordered the special chocolates from MiniBrownie on etsy. They put my dog’s picture on the brownies! You can select a picture that will be special to your person and have that printed on the brownie. How awesome is that?
Gift the sweet treat with the beautiful wool wash and the fancy needles and you’ve got a gift pack that is very unusual. Throw in some ornaments for good measure!
[bctt tweet=”Including a gift certificate to the Yarn Shop with a gift pack makes a thoughtful present.”]
Some people don’t like chocolate or have other food issues. Make sure you know about those BEFORE gifting something like this. For most people, this is a super cool thing. I love mine! They smell divine! As does that fantastic wool soap.
I know this is a really different gift guide. And yes I know it’s a lot of little details. Don’t freak out, my friend. I’ve created a special pinterest board with all these incredible gift ideas. Just head over to my gift guide board and browse for the perfect combination of knitting themed presents for the special knitter (or crocheter) in your life!
If you’re looking for patterns for your Knitting Gift Pack, don’t forget I have several cute patterns in my etsy shop! They are available as an instant download. Download them and print to nice paper to include with your gift pack to round out the gift.
A couple of articles back, I shared some of my favorite books. They would also make wonderful gifts and you can read more about them here.
If you have any suggestions to add to my Holiday Gift Guide, please leave them in the comments! What are you giving to your favorite crafters this season?

These are all very nice!! One day I’m going to have to learn how to knit!
Thanks Trish!! Anytime you’re ready, just let me know! I’m planning on tutorials and some online classes for the new year. It’s such a fun hobby, and I bet you could tie your jewelry making skills into the finishing and decoration of your knits.
