“What do you do for a living?”

It’s such a small question. But how we answer it says everything about who we are and how we choose to spend our time. This is my answer:

“I am a Creative Entrepreneur. I design super fun knitting patterns, and then I show people how to make the projects.”

I think knitting is important, because it is a way to actually make something with our own hands. So many of us do everything online or on the computer and never actually MAKE anything. Heck, we don’t even print out our pictures anymore. It’s been said the current generation is going to be a big blank spot in the archives because nobody prints anything anymore. It’s all digitized, and that information will fail.

But you know what lasts a really long time? Baby blankets. Scarves. Hats. Stuff like that. Especially items that are made with good materials and properly cared for. That stuff will last just about forever. You can knit your baby a blanket to pass down and eventually your great grandchild could be kept warm in the same blanket. Isn’t that amazing?

When I go through the cedar chest of special handmade items that have been passed down through my family, I feel like I’m actually touching a part of my grandmas and aunts who made that stuff. That’s a powerful thing!

It’s not just knitting. It’s about making a connection with your family and loved ones one stitch at a time.

So many people tell me they would just love to learn how to knit. It always jogs a familiar and pleasant memory when people think about who in their lives were knitters. So I say to you,

“Ok. Knit something already!”

Hang out here with me and get ready to learn some new stuff.
